Sarfaraz Khan Heaps Praise On Jasprit Bumrah, Calls Him "One Of The Best" Bowlers
India cricketer Sarfaraz Khan heaped praise on star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, calling him "one of the best" bowlers in the world. Bumrah is currently playing in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh, with the first Test taking place at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. In an interview with Jio Cinema, Sarfaraz reflected on Bumrah's memorable performance during the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where he delivered a crucial breakthrough when the game was slipping away. "You saw his magic just a few months ago in the T20 World Cup Final. The game was getting away from us, but Bumrah stepped up and took a key wicket. He’s done this so many times when the team needs him. There’s no doubt he’s one of the best,” Sarfaraz said in a release from Jio Cinema.
In 37 Test matches, Bumrah has claimed 159 wickets at an impressive average of 20.69, with his best bowling figures being 6/27. At home, in just nine Test matches, Bumrah has taken 33 wickets at an average of 16.36, with his best figures of 6/45.
In the Chennai Test, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. India’s top-order crumbled early, with the team struggling at 34/3. However, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118 balls, including nine boundaries) and Rishabh Pant (39 off 52 balls, with six boundaries) forged a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket, helping India recover.
Despite their efforts, India was reduced to 144/6. It was Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who turned the game around with an unbeaten 195-run partnership. India finished Day 1 on 339/6, with Ashwin unbeaten on 102 off 112 balls, having struck 10 fours and two sixes. Jadeja remained not out on 86 from 117 balls, including 10 boundaries and two sixes.
