Sarfaraz Khan Heaps Praise On Jasprit Bumrah, Calls Him "One Of The Best" Bowlers

India cricketer Sarfaraz Khan heaped praise on star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, calling him "one of the best" bowlers in the world. Bumrah is currently playing in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh, with the first Test taking place at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. In an interview with Jio Cinema, Sarfaraz reflected on Bumrah's memorable performance during the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where he delivered a crucial breakthrough when the game was slipping away. "You saw his magic just a few months ago in the T20 World Cup Final. The game was getting away from us, but Bumrah stepped up and took a key wicket. He’s done this so many times when the team needs him. There’s no doubt he’s one of the best,” Sarfaraz said in a release from Jio Cinema.

In 37 Test matches, Bumrah has claimed 159 wickets at an impressive average of 20.69, with his best bowling figures being 6/27. At home, in just nine Test matches, Bumrah has taken 33 wickets at an average of 16.36, with his best figures of 6/45.

In the Chennai Test, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. India’s top-order crumbled early, with the team struggling at 34/3. However, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 off 118 balls, including nine boundaries) and Rishabh Pant (39 off 52 balls, with six boundaries) forged a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket, helping India recover.

Despite their efforts, India was reduced to 144/6. It was Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who turned the game around with an unbeaten 195-run partnership. India finished Day 1 on 339/6, with Ashwin unbeaten on 102 off 112 balls, having struck 10 fours and two sixes. Jadeja remained not out on 86 from 117 balls, including 10 boundaries and two sixes.

For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 58 runs, including the key dismissals of Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6).

India's Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his brilliance on the opening day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh. Walking in to bat with India struggling at 144 for 6, Ashwin formed a vital partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, rescuing the team from a precarious position. The duo put together an unbeaten 195-run stand for the 7th wicket, propelling the hosts into a commanding spot by the end of play on Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Ashwin was in sublime form, reaching his century in just 108 balls.

His knock featured 10 boundaries and two sixes, leaving the Bangladesh bowlers without answers in the final session of Day 1. One of Ashwin's shots, in particular, captured the attention of head coach Gautam Gambhir, known for his usually composed demeanor.

On the final ball of the 44th over, Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana bowled a short delivery outside off stump, which Ashwin stylishly cut through the sweeper cover for a boundary. Gambhir’s rare and impressed reaction to the shot quickly went viral, with fans sharing the moment widely on social media.

Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill's Dressing Room Act With Gautam Gambhir Gets Fans Talking

It wasn't the best return to Test cricket for star batters Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. On Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh, Kohli was dismissed after scoring just 6 runs, while Gill couldn't even get off the mark. India’s top-order faced a dramatic collapse, with skipper Rohit Sharma also falling for 6 runs. The team could have been in serious trouble if not for the crucial rescue act by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja later in the day. Despite multiple batters failing to fire on Thursday, it was Kohli and Gill who faced the most trolling, largely due to their lighthearted interaction with head coach Gautam Gambhir in the dressing room.

In photos circulating on social media, both Kohli and Gill were seen enjoying a chat session with the India head coach. The trio appeared to be cracking jokes and having a good time despite the top order's poor performance on the field. However, fans were not happy to see Kohli and Gill seemingly move past their failures so quickly.
